Jan and Andrai Whitted, Co-Creators of Creative Adventures
We are Jan and Andrai, a mom and son team, and we have been sand painting since we discovered the art form nearly twenty years ago. In 1996 Jan established ARTBEAT in Arlington, MA as a source for gifts, toys, and tools that promote creativity and a place where children and adults can come to make hands-on art together.

Sand painting is one of the most popular activities in our studio. As an art form, it appeals to people of all ages and abilities. Through working with children and adults, including artists with special needs, we developed our Creative Sand Adventures™ kits. Our materials and techniques have been successfully used by thousands of children, teens, and adults in our studio, in their homes, at scout meetings, in classrooms and afterschool programs, and at family celebrations.
